The signing ceremony of the agreement on cooperation in education, science and culture between the Uzbek government and the Hungarian government has been recently held in Tashkent.
The agreement was signed by Uzbek Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education Inom Majidov and Hungarian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Uzbekistan Peter Santo.
According to the document, legal bases are being created for the cooperation of the sides in education, science and culture through the allocation of quotas for getting education in higher education institutions of the two countries, joint scientific research, and cultural events.
A joint working group consisting of representatives of ministries, departments and institutions of the two countries is planned to be created in order to implement the agreement.
The Hungarian embassy opened in Tashkent in February 2016. Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Hungary were established in March 1992. A number of intergovernmental documents have been signed between the countries.
A convention on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of evasion from payment of income tax was signed between the governments of the two countries in April 2008.
