WB: Turkmen GDP to increase by 6.3% in 2018

The GDP growth rate of Turkmenistan will be 6.3 percent in 2018 as compared to 6.4 percent in 2017, according to the World Bank’s (WB) updated Global Economic Prospects report.

The GDP growth was 6.2 percent in this Central Asian state in 2016. According to WB analysts’ expectations, the country’s economy will grow by 6.3 percent in 2019 and 2020.

Turkmen authorities said earlier that Turkmenistan’s GDP growth rate is expected to stand at 6.5 percent in 2017.

According to BP, Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.

Turkmenistan sells gas through pipelines to China and Iran.
