Kazakh mining company doubles gold production

Kazakhstan’s Bozshakol Ore Mining and Processing Plant produced 119,000 ounces of gold in 2017, which almost doubled the result of 2016, a source in the KAZ Minerals company told Trend.

The source added that in 2017 ore extraction at Bozshakol increased to 34.6 million tons, exceeding the indicator of 2016 by 22 percent.

The refining volume increased by 122 percent, from 11.1 million to 24.6 million tons of ore, as production increased in two factories (processing sulphide ore and processing kaolinized ore).

"As expected, the average copper content in processed ore declined from 0.56 percent in 2016 to 0.53 percent in 2017. The production of copper at Bozshakol in 2017 amounted to 101,300 tons, whereas in 2016 the plant produced 48,000 tons. The volume of gold produced by the plant in 2017 is 119,000 ounces, whereas in 2016 it produced 64,200 ounces," the source said.

Trend was told that according to preliminary estimates of the company, copper production at Bozshakol should reach 100,000 tons in 2018.
