Living wage in Kazakhstan increases

Living wage in Kazakhstan amounted to 25,879 tenge ($80.46) in January 2018, while in December 2017 the figure was 23,471 tenge ($72.98), the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan said in a message Feb. 3.

The average living wage per capita, calculated based on the minimum standards of consumption of main foodstuffs, increased by 18.5 percent in January 2018 compared to the corresponding period in 2017.

Prices of food products in the Kazakh market, in turn, increased by 0.6 percent in January 2018, compared to December 2017.

In the living wage value, the share of expenditures for purchase of meat and fish last month amounted to 19.8 percent, dairy, fat and egg products - 15.9 percent, fruits and vegetables - 9.9 percent, cereals - 7.4 percent, sugar, tea and spices - 2 percent.
