Qatar calls on Azerbaijani businessmen to take advantage of opportunities created in the country for investments, said Youssef Hassan Youssef Al Saai, Qatari Ambassador in Baku.
In accordance with the country's legislation, non-Qatari investors can invest with a share of starting from 49 percent to 100 percent in the following sectors: agriculture, industry, healthcare, education, mining, consultation services, art work services, information technology, cultural services, sports services and entertainment services, the diplomat said.
He said that the most important tools provided by the Qatar government to stimulate foreign investment are: assistance to licensed industrial projects in obtaining loans from the Qatar Industrial
Development Bank and other financial institutions, providing electricity, fuel, water and natural gas to the projects at competitive prices, granting foreign investors the right to import all the equipment necessary for development and expansion of the project.
"The government of Qatar also frees foreign capital from taxation for a period not exceeding 10 years from the date of commencement of the project, as well as from customs duties on the import of necessary raw materials that lack in the local market," said the ambassador
Hassan Al Saai further noted that the relations between Qatar and Azerbaijan, which have a special character, successfully develop in all spheres.
"The friendly and brotherly relations between the heads of the two countries are the main factor in the development of bilateral relations. This relationship led to an unprecedented growth in trade turnover
between Qatar and Azerbaijan in 2017," the ambassador said.
A new impulse to the development of relations between the two countries, was given by President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Qatar on February 26-27, he noted.
The ambassador reminded that the first session of Azerbaijan-Qatar Joint Economic, Trade and Technical Intergovernmental Commission, held in Baku Jan. 31, 2017, was an important step in the development of investment cooperation in the agricultural, tourism and construction sectors.
The introduction of a simplified visa regime between Qatar and Azerbaijan contributed to the growth of atourist flow,according to the diplomat. He added that presently, the Qatar Airways performs daily flights on the route Doha-Baku-Doha.
"I am confident that our joint activities, both within the framework of the intergovernmental commission and within the framework of business forums, will have a sustainable nature, which ultimately leads to the creation of a strategic partnership between our states," concluded Youssef Hassan Youssef Al Saai, expressing confidence that the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar will continue in the future.
