The political consultations between Turkmenistan and Vietnam were held in Hanoi, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message April 3.
The Vietnamese delegation was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.
The sides stressed the role of high-level visits and discussed the possibilities of increasing export-import operations and expanding the range of supplied goods and rendered services.
"The need for the establishment of a solid legal basis was stressed to expand and develop trade and economic relations," the message said.
Among the South-East Asian countries, Malaysia actively operates in the Turkmen market.
Malaysia’s Petronas Carigali state oil and gas company has been successfully operating in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea since 1996. This company launched industrial production and began to export oil in Turkmenistan in May 2006, which is transported through Azerbaijan.
