The Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan and the Russian Export Center (REC) are discussing possibility of supplying dredges to the Central Asian republic, Sputnik Uzbekistan reported citing Head of the REC office in Uzbekistan Dmitry Prokhorenko.

“Together with the Uzbek ministry, we are considering delivery of non-standard machines and dredgers from the Chelyabinsk plant. The total cost of the agreement will be about $23-25 million,” Prokhorenko said on the sidelines of the first Expo-Russia Uzbekistan 2018 industrial exhibition.

Dredger is a technical vessel, designed for dredging and mining of non-metallic building materials. They will be used to clean water supply channels used for irrigation in Uzbekistan, as well as to deepen the riverbeds.

According to Prokhorenko, a project on supplying Russian excavators to Uzbekistan is currently at the final stage of the review.

“The vehicles will be delivered by the KRANEKS (Ivanovo) machinery group. There will be quite a lot of them. We are considering provision of a credit line for this project,” he said.

The REC is also discussing possibility of allocating funds for financing construction of a nuclear power plant with the government of Uzbekistan, and is also preparing to sign a loan agreement for allocation of $141 million for construction of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant.

In total, about 30 projects in Uzbekistan in various sectors of industry are currently being developed in the REC. In October last year, General Director of the center Pyotr Fradkov said that the REC plans to provide support for financing projects of Russian companies in Uzbekistan totaling up to $1 billion.

In addition to financing the construction of a metallurgical plant in Tashkent, the REC was involved in creation of a synthetic fuel plant in the Kashkadarya region and modernization of the Syrdarya thermal power plant and the Farhad hydropower plant.
