Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia held a joint investment forum in Dushanbe on May 9, the press-service of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan stated.
Reportedly, an exhibition of products of Tajik enterprises was held within the framework of the investment forum.
Chairman of the Sughd region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda provided information on the investment potential of the region to the participants of the event.
The arab businessmen got acquainted with investment opportunities of Ayni district during the visit to Sughd region. They also visited the city of Istaravshan and the ‘Sughd’ Free Economic Zone, which is located in Khujand.
An investment forum with participation of entrepreneurs from both Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia is also planned to be held in Dushanbe on May 10.
The second meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic and Cultural-Technical Cooperation between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia was held in Riyadh on April 1-2, 2018, and a forum of business circles of the two countries was held in the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah on April 2-3, 2018.
In 2007-2017, businessmen from Saudi Arabia invested $160.2 million in the economy of Tajikistan. The amount was used as loans attracted by Tajik enterprises and organizations.
