UzAgroExport JSC, part of the Uzbekoziqovqatholding, started to buy onion from farmers of the Surkhandarya region by 1,200 soums per one kilogram, the press service of the holding noted on May 15.
Average cost of an onion is 590 soums per kilogram. However, high demand for the product on foreign markets makes it possible to export it on favorable terms.
The export will be carried out under the national “UzAgro” brand. The product will be supplied on standard terms with 40-60-millimeter calibre in 30-kilogram sacks.
The press service of the holding also added that dismissing of cotton cultivation areas in favor of other crops contributed to development of vegetable cultivation, which particularly lead to a better onion harvest in 2018.
