Uzbek enterprises exporting agricultural products achieved agreement on export prices for sweet cherry, the press service of the Uzbekoziqovqatholding stated.

“As a result of joint work, all parties came to a common opinion that the minimum export price for sweet cherry should be $4 per kilogram in 2018. Such cost is relevant for the traditional export markets and will allow us maintaining sales levels formed in the CIS countries during the previous years,” the press service said.

Local experts believe that this figure will be able to bring the cost of Uzbek sweet cherry to the world average. The quality and environmental friendliness of Uzbek fruits are well-known among foreign customers. The main goals of exporters in Uzbekistan are stable export figures and timely coordination of the export logistics network.

Uzbekistan currently ranks fifth in the world in production of sweet cherry, with 100,000 tons per year.

The republic holds the second place in export of dried peaches, fourth place in export of fresh apricot, ninth – in cabbage and raisins, tenth – in grapes and peaches, seventh – in plums.

The holding earlier noted that dismissing of cotton field areas in favor of other crops lead to increasing fruit and vegetable harvest in 2018.
