Azerbaijani wine producer eyes to up export volumes

Azerbaijani wine producer Sharg Ulduzu LLC intends to increase export volumes, the company's head Asgar Alirzayev told Trend on May 21.

In 2017, the company produced 48,500 decaliters of wine and 5,000 decalitres of wine were sold.

"Our export markets are Russia and China. In general, about 60 percent of the sales were directed for export last year," he said.

Sharg Ulduzu LLC was established in 2002.

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-April 2018, the country exported alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as wine vinegar for $3.73 million, and imported alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as wine vinegar for $19.28 million.

The exports decreased by 50.76 percent and imports increased by 15.38 percent compared to the same period last year.
