An electronic tracking system is planned to be implemented at the Baku International Sea Trade Port, Khudayar Hasanli, head of the strategic planning and development division of the port, said in an interview with Trend.

"We appealed to partners from several countries, in particular from Japan, to implement this technology, as well as create an electronic database,” he said. “Requests have already been made and we are waiting for reply.”

“We intend to launch cooperation this year,” Hasanli added. “Such infrastructure is planned to be created throughout the transport corridor from China to Europe, first of all at least three countries - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia. Through this system, cargoes can be tracked through special codes on containers. We need special software. We must choose a system, which can be produced in Dubai, Japan or Korea."

The Port in Alat, which will become the biggest port on the Caspian Sea, is an important part of Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure.

The port’s capacity will be 15 million tons of cargo and 100,000 containers per year within the first phase of the port construction which has been already completed.
