By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:

The national air carrier (NAC) Uzbekistan Airways does not plan to purchase aircraft from the Canadian company Bombardier, a source in the Uzbek NAC told Trend on July 13.

The representative of the Uzbekistan Airways added that the NAC is currently unifying types of aircrafts in operation and intends to operate only aircraft manufactured by Boeing and Airbus in order to reduce production costs.

“The airline is streamlining its aviation fleet. The airplanes of the eastern [Russian] production have been completely replaced by aircraft of Boeing and Airbus. The decommissioned aircraft were written off in accordance with the established procedure and have been put up for sale. The fleet of the Uzbekistan Airways is made up of modern and comfortable Boeing-757/767, Boeing-787-8 Dreamliner, Airbus A320 aircraft, as well as Boeing-767-300BCF cargo aircraft», the source in the NAC said.

It was earlier reported that the Canadian engineering company Bombardier is interested in entering the Uzbek market and is ready to assist Uzbekistan in purchasing aircraft on preferential credit terms.

In April 2018, representatives of Bombardier Business Aircraft and Arcos Jet companies, specializing in sales of business aircraft, their maintenance, training of air crews and their legal protection, visited Uzbekistan.
