A significant part of Turkmenistan's products supplied abroad are home textiles, manufactured under the world-famous brands like IKEA, Puma, Wal-Mart, Lidl, Bershka, Pool&Bear, River Island, Cosco and others, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper wrote.

In general, the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan manufactured during 1H2018 some 24.5 percent more products than in the same period last year. In particular, the growth rate of production of cotton fiber amounted to 112.3 percent, cotton fabric to 115.7 percent, garments and knitwear to 108.9 percent, carpets and tapestries to 104.8 percent.

The textile industry of Turkmenistan is represented by a wide range of exported goods – from cotton fiber and yarn to ready-made garments and knitwear, which are produced by the largest complexes in Central Asia, situated in the capital and in all regions of the country.

The foundations of new industrial complexes were laid recently, in the Akhal velayat (region) of Turkmenistan, each of which is designed for the processing of 5,000 tons of thin-fiber cotton. It is planned to put them into operation in 2021.

Both projects involve the organization of the entire technological process chain, from the cotton fiber processing stage to the production of the final product, and include spinning, weaving, dyeing and sewing units.

Turkmenistan grows more than one million tons of cotton annually, which serves as the raw material base for the development of the textile industry. Up to 70 percent of the grown raw materials are processed in the country.
