Seed processing enterprises are planned to be put into operation by the end of this year in five regions of Azerbaijan - Khachmaz, Gobustan, Agjabadi, Jalilabad and Shaki, Head of the State Service for Registration of Plant Varieties and Seed Control Imran Jumshudov told Trend.
"The capacity of the enterprises will be five tons of seed per hour. Storage, cleaning, packaging of seeds, and their treatment with drugs will be carried out there. It is planned to put into operation the enterprises in Khachmaz and Shaki in the first place," said Jumshudov.
He noted that the enterprises will be built with the funds from the State Seed Fund.
"The main goal is that agricultural producers, farmers would use certified high-quality seeds. This is the most important issue, because if the seeds are poor, the efforts of the farmers can go for nothing. Farmers may be assured that they buy high-quality seeds that have high productivity," said Jumshudov.
