EBRD sets new date for consideration of loan for environmental project in Azerbaijan

The Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will consider a loan for Tamiz Shahar JSC on October 3, 2018, the bank's head office told Trend Aug. 29.

Earlier, it was planned to consider the loan in July. A loan from the EBRD should help to improve the efficiency of the solid waste management system in the framework of the "Big Baku" project.

The loan amount can reach $39 million. These funds will be used to build two transfer stations and waste sorting facilities. Together with technical assistance, the cost of the project is $40.3 million. The project will optimize the transportation of waste and reduce the volume of their disposal.

Azerbaijan has been cooperating with the EBRD since 1992. Since the beginning of cooperation, the Bank has invested over $ 3.18 billion in 167 projects in the financial, corporate, infrastructure and energy sectors of Azerbaijan. At the same time, a quarter of investments falls to the share of the private sector.
