By Ilkin Shafiyev – Trend:

The sale of products of Azerbaijan’s Balkhurma company, engaged in the production of dried fruits, started at the European filling stations, the company's Sales and Marketing Director Rovshan Hajiyev told Trend Sept. 5.

“In general, in the summer, dried fruits are not sold very well, and the prices for them fall,” Hajiyev said. “The season begins only now. However, over the summer we managed to sign agreements with European supermarkets, as well as networks of filling stations of Statoil and Gazprom. The first deliveries have already begun and good sales have been recorded. In general, more than 1,500 Statoil filling stations operate in Europe, mostly in the Baltic countries. This is while the number of Gazprom filling stations in Russia is about 1,200.”

He noted that in general the company intends to expand export volumes. Negotiations are underway with importers from Lebanon and Poland, he said, adding that the supplies to Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Malaysia and Brazil have already been implemented.

“Negotiations with Lebanese companies continue; however, there are problems with logistics,” he said. “As for buyers from Poland, the representatives of a Polish company visited Baku several weeks ago, where they held talks with us. They liked our products and asked for samples to be presented to distributors in Poland."

“In general, from February, when we started exporting our products, until May, we managed to sell abroad more than 200 tons of fresh fruit worth about 300,000 manats and about 70 tons of dried products worth 60,000 manats,” he added. “In general, about 90 percent of the products are exported.”

He also said the company intends to increase the production capacity of its plant in Azerbaijan’s Balakan from 500 to 2,000 tons per year.

The Balkhurma company started operating in 2016.
