Number of regular transit flights through Kazakhstan increases

In eight months of 2018, in the airspace of Kazakhstan, the number of flights amounted to 171,845, which is 9,522 flights more than in the same period of 2017, the country's Civil Aviation Committee said in a statement Sept. 10.

As noted, the growth has amounted to 5.87 percent.

The Kazakh airline companies have performed 66,489 flights, the number of flights of foreign airline companies amounted to 105,356.

This growth has been observed in all categories of flights, with the exception of charter flights of aircraft of foreign countries with landing in Kazakhstan and domestic charter flights of Kazakh airline companies.

The number of regular transit flights through the country's airspace during the period from January to August 2018 has amounted to 76,431, which is 5,328 (an increase of 7.49 percent) more than in the same period last year.

At the same time, the growth in the transit of charter flights of foreign airline companies has amounted to 18.89 percent (from 6,621 flights in 2017 to 7,872 flights in 2018).

The growth of transit traffic is associated with an increase in the frequency of operation of regular flights of foreign airlines. The number of regular flights with landing at the airports of Kazakhstan performed by foreign airlines in the period from January to August 2018 has amounted to 15,221, which is 354 (an increase of 2.38 percent) more than in the same period last year.
