There are plans to expand aluminum production in Azerbaijan, Kamran Nabizade, director general of Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation, told Trend.
He said that a strategy for the development of aluminum production is being developed.
Expansion of aluminum production will be achieved, first of all, through restructuring of the activities of Det.Al Holding, he noted.
Presently, the production volume of aluminum rolled products at the Ganja Aluminum Plant, owned by the holding, is 55,000 tons per year. This figure is planned to increase to 100,000 tons per year.
In addition, it is expected that the Sumgait Aluminum Plant and the Ganja Alumina Refinery, which is also part of Det.Al Holding, will resume activities.
As of today, in general, the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation owns 17 companies, which were formed as a result of the restructuring of 52 state-owned companies, Nabizade said.
Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation was established November 2017. The corporation includes a number of state-owned companies, including those operating in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and the metallurgical industry. The main task of the corporation is to modernize the management systems of these companies, increase their profitability, transparency, etc.
