Province of China eyes investing in Uzbek agricultural sector

The Chinese province of Shenyang is interested in investing in the newly created agro-industrial free economic zone Bukhoro-agro, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan announced.
The corresponding agreement has been achieved following the meeting with representatives of the People’s Government of Shenyang Province of the People’s Republic of China, headed by Vice Mayor Chen Hong.
The purpose of the visit of the Chinese delegation was to discuss the investment climate of Uzbekistan, possible ways of cooperation in such areas of agriculture as animal breeding, horticulture, poultry farming, and cultivation of cereals.
During the meeting, the Chinese side expressed interest in investing in the newly created free economic zone Bukhoro-agro.
In 1H2018, China took the second place in the list of main trade partners of Uzbekistan (with a slight difference from Russia). The trade turnover between the countries amounted to $2.81 billion.
