Air transportation up by almost 13% in Kazakhstan

The number of air transport passengers in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.5 million people for the first 8 months of 2018, Ranking.kz reported.

This is 12.7 percent more than the figure of the same period last year, according to the report.

At the same time, the share of air transport in passenger traffic in the country increased from 0.03 to 0.04 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, 25 foreign and two Kazakh airlines operate in the international air passenger market of Kazakhstan, according to the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakh Ministry for Investment and Development.

The most popular international route is Almaty-Moscow-Almaty, where Air Astana and Aeroflot air carriers operate 60 flights a week in both directions.

The second most popular route is Astana-Moscow-Astana, operated 48 flights a week in both directions by Air Astana and Aeroflot.

Almaty-Istanbul-Almaty route ranks third, where Air Astana and Turkish Airlines operate 34 flights a week in both directions.
