UzAutoTrailer plant in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) has manufactured the first KamAZ truck with a gas engine, Uzbek media reported on Oct. 16.

The full metal van based on the KamAZ 65117 chassis is equipped with a 300-horsepower strong RGK engine. The machine has 11 locally produced LNG-1 gas cylinders, containing 170 cubic meters of natural gas and allowing to cover a distance of 400 kilometers.

Gas engines with a capacity of 240 to 420 horsepower with a warranty of 18 months or 150,000 kilometers will be used for installation on the KamAZ trucks produced in Uzbekistan. The engines are certified to work on Eco Gas (methane) with possibility of remote monitoring and adjustment of operating parameters.

The initial production capacity for production of gas-powered vehicles will be 500 units per year, followed by an increase. The company’s plans also include further phased localization of elements of gas equipment.
