The Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) project is of great importance for the development of international communication, Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahrami said in an exclusive interview to Trend.
Iran and Azerbaijan are negotiating on this issue because this is a very important project.
Jahrami said that TASIM starts from China and ends in Europe.
The communication route is being created from northern Iran to China and Europe, he added.
Presently, there is such a project as the Trans Asia Europe (TAE) project, Jahrami said.
"This second route can turn into a safer one. Of course, part of this route will stretch through the Caspian Sea," he said.
According to the first option, this route is expected to pass onshore Iran as an alternative to the sea for Iran’s active involvement in this project, Jahrami said.
"According to the second one, this connecting line may be the main transit route," he said. "A data line passes from southern Iran. It is known that the Suez Canal and Bab al-Mardab Strait have a bottleneck from the south to the east and the west."
Jahrami said that Iran can create a direct connection from the southern part, i.e. the northern part of the Gulf of Oman and shorten the communication route.
Iran is trying to find a solution to have bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan, he added.
