Uzbekistan will create a national brand of silk products Uz-Silk in 2019, says a decree of the head of state, Trend reported referring to Uzbek media.
Starting from 2019, the country is also planning to host the annual International Forum on Sericulture and the International Silk and Fashion Exhibition on Silk Production with extensive involvement of representatives of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Uzbekistan and the silk industry of foreign countries, experts and specialists, as well as foreign tourists.
The document also exempted organizations that are members of the O’zbekipaksanoat (Uzbek Silk Industry) Association for a period up to Jan. 1, 2023 from paying property tax and land tax with a targeted direction of funds released for the modernization of production, including the purchase of process equipment.
By the end of December, the head of state instructed the relevant departments to submit to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals for the introduction of an exemplary system of cultivation and processing of silkworm cocoons in the Khorezm region based on the creation of high-yielding intensive mulberry plantations, the production of quality silkworm breeders, and the construction of facilities for the silkworm with extensive use of innovative technologies.
