The caretaker of Iran's Imam Khomeini Airport City Company said that a new terminal, with a capacity of five million passengers is ready to be opened, and expected to be operational by the end of this Iranian year [March 2019].
“The capacity of Imam Khomeini airport will increase by 50 percent,” Ali Rostami said at a press conference at the third international exhibition of international transportation, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He said that after the opening of the terminal, the construction of the Iranshahr terminal will be on the agenda of the Airport City Company.
"We expect to use the Iranshahr Grand Terminal at Imam Khomeini Airport in the next five years," he said.
“With the opening of the Salam terminal, the opportunity of transfer of some domestic flights between 12:00 and 5:00 am will be provided to the airport because stopping flights at Mehrabad Airport from 12:00 to 5:00 in the morning creates some problems in Tehran, which will be resolved through Salam terminal.”
