Uzbekistan abolishes excise duties on more than 150 Kazakh goods

According to the outcomes of the Kazakh-Uzbek bilateral meetings at different levels, it is possible to reduce the level of excise duty in respect of top-priority goods imported from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, said the message of the Ministry for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

At the end of June 2018, president of Uzbekistan signed a decree, according to which, starting from January 2019 the excise duty on imports to Uzbekistan will be applied to 750 goods, 463 of which are agricultural and 287, industrial products.

In addition, the number of Kazakhstan goods subjected to the excise duty will be reduced from 208 to 50 since the new year. Thus, 50 products out of 1,450 goods exported to Uzbekistan, will be subjected to excise duty in the amount of $9.5 million.

The Ministry for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan noted that excise duties have been abolished, particularly, on vegetable oil; confectionery; chocolate; ketchup; canned meat; paints and varnishes; perfumes and hygiene products; tires; plastic, wood and jewelry; rods, wire, pipes; household appliances; batteries; electrical equipment; wires; vehicle spare parts; scooters; glasses; furniture.

"Thus, a significant liberalization exists in the excise policy of Uzbekistan there is of, which led to the growth of exports of Kazakhstan products in the Uzbek market," stated ministry.
