As many as 2,000 electric motors are annually produced and repaired in the Shahrud district of Iran’s Semnan province, and this step has cut down the imports of these motors by 50 percent, Head of the Semnan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Behrouz Asvadi said, Trend reports via Shata news agency.

He said that the Shahrud industrial plant has a 30-year experience in the production and repair of high-current motors, generators and transformers.

The plant fully repairs electric devices in the petrochemical industry, as well as cement, steel, sugar, lumber, paper and water industries, he noted.

“The production of 400 megawatt power generators, design and repair of 6,500 horsepower engines and the production of 5,000 horsepower DC motors are one of the main achievements of the industrial plant and they prevent foreign currency outflow from Iran,” he said.

About 250 specialists are employed at the industrial plant, he noted, adding that the mass production of motors in demand of the city industry, as well as the production of equipment in the railway industry are among new programs envisaged for the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018).
