Trend:

Umirzak Shukeyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, urged farmers to increase the country's export potential, Trend reports referring to Kapital.kz.

He believes that the figures for the supply of meat can be doubled.

“In 2018, beef exports amounted to 19,900 tons, exceeding the figure for 2017 by 3.6 times. This year, the beef export plan consists of 25,000 tons, but we intend to export at least 30,000 tons,” Arman Yevniyev, First Vice-Minister of Agriculture, said at an expanded meeting in the ministry.

In response, Umirzak Shukeyev called the figure of 60,000 tons the set target.

“We need to get closer to the figure of 60,000 tons, because the potential is huge,” the minister said.

The Ministry of Agriculture remarked the launch of “Sybaga”, a special preferential loan product, since the second half of 2018. More than 600 family meat farms received loans and entered the program within 6 months.

Shukeyev stressed the importance of establishing exports of pork to China as well, adding that manufacturers in such regions as Northern Kazakhstan, Karaganda and Taldykorgan are “waiting in line”.

“As soon as we open the Chinese market, I think we will have a big breakthrough,” the minister said.
