In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), 235 tons of honey have been produced in Khomeyn County of Iran's Markazi Province, Director of the Khomeyn Agricultural Jihad Organization Abbas Arshadi said, Trend reports via IRNA.

Arshadi noted that the honey was collected in two steps from 21,700 beehives. Thus, each hive produced 10 kilograms of honey.

Due to the drought in the county, honey output has decreased, he said, adding that last Iranian year the output was 255 tons.

The Khomeyn County ranks second in terms of the produced honey in Markazi Province. Shazand ranks first. However, in terms of quality, Khomeyn's honey is the best in the province.

In Markazi Province, Khomeyn ranks first in turkey meat production, second in chicken meat and honey production and third in milk production.
