Kazakhstan’s Turkistan region increases meat exports (Exclusive)

Kazakhstan’s Turkistan region exported 1.35 million tons of agricultural products in 2018, the Economy and Budget Planning Department of the region told Trend.

In particular, 261,126 tons of melon, 149,956 tons of cabbage, 99,945 tons of watermelon, 48,039 tons of potatoes, and 40,878 tons of onions were exported. Exports of grapes made up 37,922 tons, tomatoes - 31,411 tons, bell pepper – 19,889 tons, carrots – 9,091 tons, and apples – 2,248 tons.

At the same time, the region exported 7,787 tons of cattle meat, 2,264 tons of poultry meat, 586 tons of lamb and about 700 kilograms of horse meat.

It should be noted that the volume of exported agricultural products exported by the Turkistan region has rose compared to 2017. For example, exports of cattle meat increased 123 times, carrot –14 times, lamb – 9 times, tomatoes – 4.7 times, cabbage – 3.4 times, apple – 2.6 times, onion – 2.37 times, and horse meat – 1.4 times.

Meanwhile, 382,454 tons of agricultural products were imported to the Turkistan region last year, of which Uzbekistan accounted for 350,488 tons and Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Tajikistan, the US, Iceland and other countries – for 31,966 tons.

The volume of imported agricultural products decreased by 1.2 times compared to 2017.

It should be noted that today in the region there are more than 50 exporters supplying their products to the EU countries, China, Central Asia and other countries.
