Kazakhstan increases cargo turnover

The cargo turnover in Kazakhstan amounted to 91.14 billion ton-kilometers in January-February, which is 2.9 percent more than in the same period of 2018, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

According to the Statistics Committee of Kazakhstan’s National Economy Ministry, in the reporting period there was a 6-percent increase in the cargo turnover by road transport. Cargo transportation amounted to 570.71 million tons, 2.9 percent up year-on-year.

At the same time, the volume of passenger traffic reached 45,2 billion passenger-kilometers (3,5 percent up) in January-February this year. Passenger traffic by road transport increased by 3.7 percent and by rail – by 4.1 percent. A total of 3.66 billion passengers were transported in the reporting period (1.5 percent up).
