Turkmenistan eyes to join CAREC regional trade project

Turkmenistan is working to join the Integrated Trade Agenda within the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen TV "Altyn Asyr".

Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Gochmyrat Myradov presented his report on the subject at a meeting of the Turkmen government.

The main goal of the regional technical support project scheduled to be implemented in 2019-2021 is active integration of CAREC program member countries into international markets, diversification of the economy, improvement of trade and services, exchange of best practices, strengthening regional ties and raising the level of education.

CAREC initiated by Asian Development Bank brings together 11 countries (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). Since 2001, more than $31.5 billion of investments has been mobilized to develop a multimodal transport route in the region and address issues of energy trade and security under the CAPEC program.
