Over 80K tons of meat produced in winter in Iran

In the winter season of last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), red meat production at Iran's slaughterhouses that passed state registration amounted to 81,500 tons, Trend reports referring to the Statistical Center of Iran.

With 47,100 tons, beef accounted for 57.9 percent of Iran's total red meat production during the winter.

During the reported period, 26,400 tons of mutton and lamb, 5,800 tons of goat meat and 2,100 tons of other animals' meat were produced. Subsequently, production of these meats accounted for 32.4, 7.2 and 2.6 percent of total meat production, respectively.

Compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2017-March 20, 2018), red meat production decreased by 23 percent in Iran.

The decrease in mutton and lamb production was 34 percent, in goat meat production - 16 percent, in beef production - 15 percent, in buffalo meat production - 14 percent, and camel meat production - 49 percent.
