Imports to Iranian free trade zones down

In the last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), imports of goods to Iran's free trade zones decreased by 36.4 percent, an official with Iranian Free Trade Zones Organization Mohammad Reza Abdulrahimi said, Trend reports citing IBENA.

The total value of the goods imported to the free trade zones during the reported period amounted to $1.28 billion, he said adding that in the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2017-March 20, 2018) this figure was $2.27 billion.

Main import goods in the last year included raw materials, spare parts and various equipment,especially the equipment used in service sector, Abdulrahimi said.

In his words, imports in service and industrial sectors increased by 5 percent in the last year, compared to the preceding year, he added. "During the reported period, consumer goods worth $81 million were imported to Kish Free Trade Zone. This figure is 14 percent more compared to the preceding year ($71 million)", he said.

In the last Iranian year, motor vehicles worth $8 million were imported to Kish Free Trade Zone, Abdulrahimi said. According to him, this figure was $35 million in the preceding year, and thus, 77 percent decrease was observed in the last year.
