IFC supports hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan

Over the past 20 years, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has supported about 500,000 small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, 25,000 of which are women, Aliya Azimova, IFC Country Representative for Azerbaijan, said at an event titled The Role of the Private Sector for Implementing Sustainable Development and held in Baku, Trend reports.

Azimova also stressed that the corporation always supports the development of entrepreneurship in the country and works to facilitate the dialogue between the private and public sectors.

"The corporation helps to improve the investment environment in Azerbaijan and is doing everything possible to attract private investments," she said.

The IFC has been supporting the private sector of Azerbaijan for over 20 years, having invested $500 million over the past period. Some $350 million worth of investments were directed to trade financing, and investments were also made in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
