The prices on plastic products grow in Kazakhstan

In January-April 219, the manufactured volume of rubber and plastics products in Kazakhstan amounted to 67.3 billion tenge, which is 16.4 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports citing EnergyProm.

The largest percentage of manufacturing accounts for Almaty - 17.9 percent of the total volume, 12 billion tenge, annual +40.4 percent; Nur-Sultan (former Astana) - 15.6 percent, 10.5 billion tenge, annual +30.9 percent; and Almaty region - 15.4 percent, 10.3 billion tenge, annual -7.3 percent.

The increase is also observed in the manufacturing volume of plastic sheets and foil (annual +15 percent), plastic doors and windows (annual +9.4 percent), household plastic items (annual +11.6 percent), and plastic bags (+63.3 percent).

In the meantime, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan is considering the issue of the prohibition of the plastic bags at the points-of-sale. The initiative is due to the harm that the plastic products cause the environment and the person’s health. The limitation and then the complete ban of the plastic bags are to be implemented in the country after the issue is fully reviewed.

In 2018, the number of the entities that deal with the separate waste collecting, its sorting and recycling has increased from 115 to 150. In 51 settlements, the separate waste collecting is implemented, whereas in 30 settlements the solid household waste sorting is observed. The percentage of the recycled solid household items has increased from nine percent in 2017 to 11.5 percent in 2018.

The plastic manufacturers have increased the prices for hoses and pipes made from polymer of ethylene, propylene and vinyl chloride by 9.6 percent up to 665 tenge per kg.

The price for polyethylene sheets and foil has increased by 7.4 percent and amounts to 696 tenge per kg, whereas the price of the styrene polymer sheets and foil amounts to 708 tenge per kg.

The price for plastic windows and windowsills has increased by 7.1 percent and amounts to 1,081 tenge per kg.
