The UN is ready to purchase Kazakh military equipment and weapons for peacekeeping missions, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Defense and Aerospace Industry.
“Today, a sufficient number of enterprises producing military equipment and equipment including armored cars, helicopters, thermal imaging equipment, weapons and ammunition, operate in Kazakhstan. Of course, we are interested in this military potential serving the cause of preserving peace,” Minister of Digital Development, Defense and Aerospace Industry Askar Zhumagaliyev said during the meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support Atul Khare.
Zhumagaliyev noted that the balanced foreign policy of Kazakhstan and the country's significant peacekeeping experience gained by participating in military missions and providing a dialogue platform at the international level, are highly appreciated by UN. Therefore, UN intends to strengthen cooperation with Kazakhstan in many spheres including business sector.
Khare noted that UN plans to hold business seminars to increase the awareness of entrepreneurs about the possibilities of participating in procurement programs conducted by the United Nations.
The provision of military equipment and thermal imaging equipment for UN peacekeeping missions, cooperation in the field of satellite monitoring, and the expansion of cooperation in the field of digitalization and telemedicine were among the priority issues discussed during the meeting.
Members of the delegation arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the UN 5th International Partnership for Technology in Peacekeeping Symposium.
