In the first five months of 2019, the volume of pepper exports from Uzbekistan increased 13.4 times compared to January-May last year and amounted to $51 million, exceeding electricity exports ($ 47.2 million), Trend reports via Uzbek media.
In the first quarter of this year, the volume of exports of pepper increased tenfold compared to last year and reached $25 million.
However, gold has retained the status of the main export item of Uzbekistan. During the reporting period, the supply of this precious metal abroad amounted to $1.2 billion.
The deliveries of trailers and semi-trailers have more than tripled, the supply of chemical staple fibers increased 2.7 times and of the products of oil refining-2.6 times.
China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkey remained the main buyers of Uzbek goods and services.
Kyrgyzstan took the fifth place in this list (last year it was seventh), ahead of Afghanistan and Iran.
