Kazakhstan together with partners from other countries works on Middle Corridor development in order to attract transit traffic from China to Europe via territory of the country, said Berik Kamaliyev, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the ministry.

“Kazakhstan, in cooperation with Azerbaijan and Georgia, has launched multimodal Trans-Caspian bridge, which creates the shortest route for cargo traffic to from China, Central Asia countries and Ural Siberian region of Russia to Turkey and European countries,” he said.

“I would also like to highlight the fruitful work of PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa company within the route as its associated member,” Kamaliyev added.

During five months of the current year, the transit transport on the route doubled in volume compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 1,976 TEU (an inexact unit of cargo capacity often used to describe the capacity of container ships and container terminals).

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) starts from Southeast Asia and China, runs through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to European countries.
