Belarus to start production of antibiotics in Uzbekistan

It is planned to create a production site in Tashkent for the manufacture of carbapenems (antibiotics) in the framework of agreements between Uzbekistan and Belarus, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

The corresponding draft resolution has been developed by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

Belarusians have already opened a legal entity - IE BELFARM LLC - and have prepared a conceptual design fir the production.

According to the news report, an investor of this project must attract foreign direct investment in an equivalent of at least $ 10 million for six years. The money will be spent on repairing empty buildings with a total area of ​​about 15,000 square meters, the purchase and installation of modern equipment, the organization of the production of sterile antibiotic powders, tablets and capsules, and the creation of a testing laboratory.

In addition, it is planned to build a warehouse for the products and clean up the adjacent territory.

At least 120 people are expected to work at the enterprise.

Recently, the first insulin plant in the country has been launched in Uzbekistan. Its production capacity is 10 million ampoules per year. Until recently, the country was importing insulin.
