During January-June 2019, 253 Iranian businessmen received Turkish citizenship, Trend reports via Turkish media.
Iranian businessmen got such an opportunity under the law, which facilitates the granting of Turkish citizenship.
It is reported that during this period, 143 businessmen from Iraq, 97 from Yemen, 94 from Afghanistan, 59 from Syria, 58 from Palestine, 57 from Jordan, 45 from Egypt and 21 from China accepted Turkish citizenship.
On Dec. 7, 2018, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved amendments to the relevant law in order to further simplify the process of granting Turkish citizenship to foreigners.
Foreign businessmen who have invested $250,000 in the Turkish economy are able to obtain Turkish citizenship. Previously, this amount was equal to $500,000.
