Iran and Iraq plan to establish joint ventures and joint industrial towns in the border regions for development projects, Chairman of Iraq Babil Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.

"We consider Iranian businessmen as our brothers, as we know Iran as our second home," said Morteza Bahia, Trend reports citing ILNA.

“Joint chambers are a good platform to expand the business relationship between the two countries, and we are looking to deepen this partnership,” he added.

Outlining ways to expand the bilateral cooperation, he said that one of the option is implementation of joint industrial projects. “Mosul province, which has just been liberated (from ISIS), lays in ruins, and development projects are in progress in this province,” he noted.

“There is a need for joint companies to be registered in Iraq to address the country's needs,” said Bahia. “The skilled labor force of Iran coupled with the capital of Iraq can form a good team.”

“We seek to support expanding Iraqi domestic industries by imposing tariffs and preventing dumping,” he added. "The raw material tariffs have fallen sharply nowadays so Iranian businessmen should export such materials to Iraq, if they are also looking for added value,” he noted.
