German company creates JV in Uzbekistan for production of asphalt concrete

German company GP Günter Papenburg AG is creating a joint venture in Uzbekistan for the production of asphalt concrete mixtures for road construction, ready-made concrete products, as well as construction and installation works, Trend reports with reference to a draft government decree published on law-information portal norma.uz.

The new joint venture is named Papenburg Uzbekistan. Its founders include the state-owned unitary enterprise Transyulkurilish (30 percent of the authorized capital) and Papenburg International GmbH (70 percent). The total authorized capital is 5.7 million euros.

It is planned that the new enterprise will allocate land in the floodplain of the Chirchik River in the territory of the Tashkent region with an area of ​​70 hectares, as well as in the territory of Tashkent with an area of ​​70 hectares for a quarry for the extraction of non-metallic materials used in the production of asphalt concrete mixtures and concrete products.

Earlier, German company Roland Berger signed an agreement with the authorities of Uzbekistan to elaborate a road construction development strategy. The contract value is approximately 2.6 million euros.

The new strategy, in accordance with the state project, should provide for the introduction of modern standards and technologies in the design, construction and reconstruction, repair of highways depending on their categories, and providing improved quality and service life.

In addition, it should clearly spell out the issues of financing all these works, including on the terms of a public-private partnership.
