8-kilometer tunnel to be built on section of Batumi-Sarpi road in Georgia

An eight-kilometer tunnel is expected to be built on the section of the Batumi-Sarpi road, said Irakli Karseladze, head of Roads Department of Georgia, first deputy minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Trend reports with reference to 1tv.ge.

He made this remark at the presentation of the report for the six-month period.

According to Karseladze, the construction of the Batumi-Sarpi section is planned for 2021.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze, a highway will be built on the Ricotsky tunnel, and the Kobe-Gudauri express highway project will be signed in a few days.

According to him, the construction of critical infrastructure will be completed in 2022. As Bakhtadze noted, these projects have historical significance.
