Russian companies working on projects worth $200M in Uzbek region

Companies from Russia are working on projects worth about $200 million jointly with the administration of the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing IA RIA Novosti.

First Deputy Governor of the region Anvar Karimov made this announcement within the framework of the international investment forum in Syrdarya. He added that 19 joint ventures with Russian companies are currently operating in the region.

Karimov said that the Syrdarya region’s most active business contacts are maintained with partners from Altai Krai, Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions of Russia.

In particular, Uzbek-Russian joint venture Syrdarya Mega Lux intends to implement projects worth $150 million by 2024. They include, among others, the expansion of polypropylene packaging production, the creation of an industrial park and the construction of social housing.

"This is our largest investor today, and we have already allocated land to them to expand activities," Karimov added.

The long-term list also includes projects in the textile industry, food industry, and processing of agricultural products.

On August 22, an international investment forum was held in the city of Gulistan, Syrdarya region. It was attended by about 180 business representatives from nearly 30 countries.
