Tehran, Iran, Sept.18

Trend:

Iran's Customs Administration intends to reduce its stored goods and commodity items according to a new agreement signed with Iranian National Standards Organization by classifying the function of imported goods, said deputy of Iran's Customs Administration.

"The goods that have been stored at the customs due to their functional classification are soon to be released," said Mehrdad Jamal Ournaghi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The classification of some imported goods is based on their function, so it should be assessed accordingly at the customs; it means the imported goods should be compatible with the registered goods," he added.

"There have been problems, as some organizations did not declare the compatibility. This led to storing the goods such as printing paper, polymer materials, drilling oil and gas pipes at the country's customs," he said.

"The National Standards Organization and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance signed a relevant agreement on September 18," he indicated.

"The laboratories of the standards organization are responsible for providing assessment of goods and their functions, if demanded by the customs. It seems that many imported goods that could not be classified based on their function will be released and the stockpiles at customs will be reduced," he added.

"It is expected that Iran's Customs Administration will convey the agreement to its offices, while the National Standards Organization will make the announcement to its laboratories ," he said.
