Project of manufacturing of polypropylene underway in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan continues the implementation of the project of manufacturing of polypropylene in Atyrau region, and the construction of the complex within the project is underway since 2018, Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Murat Zhurebekov said, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

Zhurebekov made the statement during the 6th annual The Downstream Caspian and Central Asia conference held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

According to him, currently, the construction of the facility for manufacturing of 500,000 tons of polypropylene a year is underway. There are also plans to launch the construction of a new complex for manufacturing of 1.25 million polyethylene a year. The total value of investments in two projects amounts to $9 billion.

The manufacturing of polypropylene is the first stage of the construction of the integrated gas and chemical complex. The manufacturing at the complex worth $2.6 billion is to be launched in 2021.

The operator of the project for manufacturing of polypropylene is Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc., which is jointly managed by United Chemical Company (51 percent) and ALMEKS PLUS (49 percent).
