Kazakh industrial companies to launch over 200 digitalization projects(Exclusive)

Manufacturing digitalization is not a fashion trend, but the most available and efficient mean of adaptation to rapidly changing conditions and, as a result, of competitive survival, the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan told Trend.

Thus, according to the representative of the ministry, recognizing this fact, industrial companies of Kazakhstan came to the conclusion that the introduction of digital technologies is necessary.

“Overall, implementation of 200 projects on digitalization is planned by the industrial companies. At the same time the number of projects is rapidly increasing each year (in 2018 the number of projects amounted to 80 projects,” the official said.

Furthermore, as noted by the representative, within the framework of implementation of digital projects, the companies are transforming their own paradigm of development, switch from traditional factors of manufacturing to digital ones.

“Thus, for example, companies are launching the predicting model into operation, which allows to avoid equipment failures. The companies also invite Chief Digital Transformation Officers, who manage the digital transformation of the company and coordinate the implemented projects with projects of other companies,” the official said.

The representative of the ministry added that digitalization of industry is a long process, which changes the company’s approach to business management.

“It requires sufficient investments into equipment, change of company’s policy and employees training. However this does not stop the companies. According to the survey held in 2017, nearly 50 percent out of 556 companies were planning on investing into introduction of digital technologies,” the official said.

At the same time, the government is active in supporting the companies.

“The government has taken monetary and other measures, aimed at creating of necessary ecosystem for support of digital transformation of local industrial ventures and stimulation of more active introduction of digital technologies,” the representative said.

However, as noted by the official, monetary measures continue being the main mean for stimulation: innovative grants, concessional loans and so on, which are provided with a condition of equitable investment of the company itself into the project.
