Iran annually extracts 400 million tons of mining materials

On average, 400 million tons of mining materials are extracted in Iran annually, Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Executive Director of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO) Khodadad Gharibpour said, Trend reports via IRNA.

Gharibpour added that about 60-65 percent of the extracted materials are building materials.

In the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), with the aim of restoring small mines, operation of 150 mines will be restored and 3,000 people will be provided with jobs, Gharibpour said.

According to the program of Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry, 500 mines will be restored in the upcoming five years and 25,000 people will be provided with jobs, the deputy minister said.

According to the deputy minister, there are 5,500 operational mines in Iran.

Projects worth $3.9 billion are ready to be commissioned and 10,000 people are expected to be provided with jobs after this, Gharibpour said.

In the last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 21, 2019), IMIDRO related projects, worth $2.1 billion, were put into operation, the deputy minister added.
