Iran saves about 250 million euros per year thanks to the production in East Azerbaijan province, namely, import substitution, Khabib Aminzadeh, chairman of the Organization of Industry, Mines and Trade of the province, told reporters in Iran.
More than 300,000 tons of auto parts are produced in the province, Aminzadeh added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
“Some 600 factories and workshops for the production of auto parts operate in the province and about 25,000 people work there,” the chairman said.
“Some 30 percent of spare parts for vehicles, light and heavy vehicles and 97 percent of spare parts for tractors are produced in the province,” Aminzadeh said.
The chairman emphasized that 10,000 tons of spare parts for tractors are exported from the province per year.
"Besides the automotive industry, the manufacturers of spare parts are ready to supply the products for the oil, gas, petrochemical, railway and other sectors," he added.
